The Outreach of LifeHouse

• The LifeTales musical biography series for students. LifeHouse hosts hundreds of schoolaged
young people for one-hour profiles of historic figures each year. These events are excellent
field trips and teachers receive a curriculum guide.

LifeHouse Audio Dramas. LifeHouse Theater-On-The-Air audio dramas will be available for
purchase and will officially launch throughout 2010. These exciting half-hour episodes feature
dramatizations of classic literature, biblical stories, historic events and original new tales.

LifeHouse DVDs. Dynamic DVD editions of select LifeHouse musicals will be released
beginning this year. These professionally mastered DVDs will allow families to take the LifeHouse
Theater experience home for hours of uplifting entertainment.

LifeHouse Scholarship Program. Substantial scholarship funds are awarded to qualifying

MISSION STATEMENT

LifeHouse Productions is a family of creative artists committed to producing dynamic drama that illustrates Christian world views. LifeHouse Productions seeks to develop the gifts of our artists, spiritually stimulate and educate audiences from all walks of life, and enhance "the moral imagination" utilizing drama, music, and creative experiences as a mirror reflecting biblical truths.

LifeHouse Productions will endeavor to stand as an artistic beacon of excellence for "His Excellency."

Biography:  Wayne R. Scott - Founder and President
Wayne R. Scott is the president and founder of LifeHouse Productions, Inc. and LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.  He is a writer, composer, producer and director who has authored 30 original musicals and numerous other widely produced works.  He has also produced and directed eight musicals at the internationally known Redlands Bowl, including “Annie,” “The Sound of Music,” and “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” for the Redlands Community Music Association.

A UC Riverside political science and religious studies double major, Scott holds a master’s degree in theological studies.  His master’s thesis, a musical version of the novel “Ben-Hur,” has been widely produced to audiences of many thousands and earned him his seminary President’s Award for Creative Biblical Thinking.

Scott has also served the California State Legislature as a field representative and office manager for Assemblyman William R. Leonard; as a social studies teacher, Vice Principal and drama department founder for Arrowhead Christian Academy (where he wrote the school’s alma mater); and as an associate pastor with Trinity Church of Redlands.
In addition to his original musicals, Scott is the author and designer of the popular “Bethlehem Marketplace” walk-through adventure, an annual Christmas interactive production seen by thousands of guests at select locations around the United States.  He also wrote a thirteen episode nationally distributed video series for children, “The Kids of Rainbow Cove.”

He has also written, produced and narrated numerous commercial video productions for a variety of companies and non-profit organizations, including Hospital Chaplains of America, Mission Aviation Fellowship, and Ronald McDonald House.

Scott has won nine Inland Theater League awards for writing, composing, and directing.  He has also received two Inland Theater League Awards for acting and a special citation for founding LifeHouse Productions.

Among Scott’s critically acclaimed productions are original versions of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Treasure Island,” “Oliver,” “ Beauty and the Beast,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “ It’s A Wonderful Life,” “Scrooge,” “Anne of Green Gables,” “ Little Women, “ “Esther,” “ Joseph,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Cinderella,” and “ Aladdin.”  He has also co-authored original musical versions of “Pocahontas,” “Moses,” “The Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk,” “Florence Nightingale,” “Anne of Avonlea,” “The Secret Garden,” “Tom Sawyer,” “Sleeping Beauty,” and others.  He has dramatized many of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories and the works of Anton Chekov.

A theater unique in the nation, LifeHouse produces original musicals nearly every week of the year to more than 25,000 guests and season subscribers.  Located in a historic Redlands building, which Scott’s company remodeled in 1999, LifeHouse Theater features 215 stadium-style seats.  Currently celebrating its fifteenth anniversary season, LifeHouse Theater recently received a California Legislature Resolution honoring the theater’s work and community service.  LifeHouse also offers programs in musical theater production for youngsters.  In addition, LifeHouse Productions also tours musicals and offers “LifeTales,” a musical biography series for school students that features curriculum guides available to educators.  The critically acclaimed series profiles “Alexander Graham Bell,” “Abraham Lincoln,” “Jackie Robinson,” and others.
Biography:  Jeffrey A. DeWitt - General Manager
Jeff Dewitt

Jeff DeWitt is the General Manager of LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.  He officially joined the staff in 2006 but was associated with LifeHouse Theater as a performer, director and volunteer since its inception in 1992.
Jeff graduated Azusa Pacific University with a B.A. in Communication with an emphasis in Journalism.  He has applied those skills as a freelance writer/reviewer for the San Bernardino Sun newspaper and as publicist for Junior University and LifeHouse Theater.  Before coming to LifeHouse, Jeff worked at National Oak Distributors, working in sales, marketing and I.T. departments.

Jeff has performed in over 30 productions with LifeHouse Theater, with some of his most memorable roles being the Cowardly Lion in “The Wizard of Oz,” Fenris Ulf in “The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe” and Drusus in “Ben-Hur.”  He has also performed with such organizations as Junior University, Redlands Bowl Association and Heartland Players.   Jeff has also directed over 30 different productions including “Treasure Island,” “Pilgrim’s Progress,” “The Foreigner,” and “Miracle on 34th Street.”  He has been nominated for numerous Inland Theatre League awards for performing and directing and received an award for his direction of “Aladdin.”

Tim Mahoney - Technical Director
Tim MahoneyTim Mahoney is the Technical Director of LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.  Tim gained an appreciation for community theater when, at 11 years old, he was cast in his first live-theater production, Wayne Scott’s “Ben-Hur” at the Arrowhead Bowl.  
Tim soon became involved with LifeHouse Productions, where he found a sense of purpose, as well as a familial connection to many wonderful people—including mentors and future close friends of all ages, communities, and backgrounds.  As he grew older Tim became more active in the behind-the-scenes aspect of theatre production.  He began building sets, learning the technical aspects of sound and lighting, and began volunteering regularly as  a backstage crew-worker—all while continuing to give his time on stage as a storyteller-actor.   After devoting some years to personal and professional development, which included full-time employment as an emergency medical technician, Tim returned to LifeHouse Theater, as well as to the arts in general, but this time on a more professional level as a seriously focused designer, artistic supervisor, and production staffer.  Since deciding to make live-theater production and multi-media-based production his career, Tim has contributed to major productions at a variety of well-known southern California venues, including: Redlands Music Association (Redlands Bowl), South Bay Civic Light Opera, Palm Springs Pavilion, Performance Riverside, and The Show Factory—and, of course, most recently and regularly, the LifeHouse Theater.
Dustin Ceithamer - Creative Consultant
DustinDustin Ceithamer is the Artistic Director of LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.  He is excited to be creating professionally again for LifeHouse Productions after having been involved with the theater since 1995. 
Dustin has worked professionally as a producer, writer, director, trombone/trumpet player, choreographer, song writer, lyricist, composer, and scenic designer.  Director/Choreographer credits include:  “Man of La Mancha” (Redlands Civic Light Opera), Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” “Wizard of Oz” and “Annie with friend/mentor Wayne Scott at the Redlands Bowl,  “Alice In Wonderland” with Junior University, and Heartland Players’ “Bye-Bye Birdie,” “Once Upon a Matress,” and “School House Rock” in addition to the numerous productions with LifeHouse Theater including “Noah and the Ark,” “Snow White,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” and “The Rise of King David.”

He has acted and danced in commercials for the Blue Man Group, Comcast Cable, Disneyland, and Toys ‘R’ Us.  Some of his favorite theatre performing credits include “The Awesome 80’s Prom” (off-Broadway), ”Robin Hood” (Broadway reading, Dir. Martin Charnin), “Fame” (Korean National Tour), as well as the nation tours of “Forever Swing,” “Sing-a-long Santa,” and “The Zoot Suit Tour.”  He also danced as member of the “Brutal Honest Bodies” dance company in Los Angeles.  If you have a sharp eye you can spot him sneaking around the backgrounds of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.”
Debbie Rao - Financial Coordinator/Resident Costumer/Public Relations
DebbbieDebbie Rao is the Financial Coordinator and Resident Costumer of LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.  Debbie first came to LifeHouse Theater as a patron during its first full theatrical season in 1995.  Her daughter, Brenda,  was cast in her first LifeHouse show, “The Wizard of Oz” in 1996 which caused the entire family to get involved.  Her son, Steven,  helped with lighting and her husband, Mike, ran the sound.  Debbie volunteered regularly as an usher, selling concessions and assisted with costuming until she was hired in March 1999 to work as a reservationist, eventually moving into the positions she now holds.  

Debbie is thrilled that she is able to work for a ministry organization with such wonderful people.  Her creative contribution can be seen on the performers as she is the resident costumer.

 

Liz Boone - House Management
Liz booneElilzabeth (Liz) Boone was born in Durban, South Africa and has resided in Canada, China and the United States.   She has a Master in Science in Nursing and has over 30 years of practical application in her field.  Liz is currently is working for the Loma Linda University Medical Center as the Manager for Case Management.  Her 2 years in China with her family was spent setting up an outpatient  clinic at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital and lecturing at the local hospitals and universities.

Liz became involved with LifeHouse Theater in 1997 when her son Michael began to perform on stage.  She began volunteering and soon took the responsibility of House Management.  Liz has been instrumental in keeping the House operating smoothly.  LifeHouse has equally been blessed by her involvement as her husband, Stephen, and daughter Bethanne, have joined Michael in gracing the stage of LifeHouse in many of our productions.
Daphne Hunter - Executive Assistant
Daphne HunterDaphne Hunter is the Executive Assistant for LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.  She is involved with marketing, event planning and outreach opportunities for LifeHouse Theater.

However, Daphne is most familiar to guests of LifeHouse Theater for her talent to interpret the productions in American Sign Language for the Deaf Community.  She has been the driving force behind this particular outreach of the LifeHouse Theater ministry.

Her desire is to have the arts redeemed for God’s glory and offering the opportunity to people to see and experience the arts that would not have had the opportunity otherwise.

 

Debra Brooks - Special Projects
Debra BrooksDebra Brooks is the LifeTales and Special Projects Coordinator of LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.  Debra has enjoyed working in the theatrical arts for over 10 years.  

Beginning as a vocalist, she has since performed in over 50 musicals, dramas, and operas.  In addition, Debra has considerable experience working as a technical director for numerous productions as well as a scenic artist, lighting designer, vocal coach, and pyrotechnician .  She has also composed and orchestrated a number of soundtracks in addition to contributing to the script development.  

Most recently, Debra has had the privilege of producing the "LifeTales" series and looks forward to continuing to bring these inspirational stories to the LifeHouse stage to help shape the lives of young people.  Debra is currently a manager for major technology and business process initiatives at Southern California Edison.
Beverly Bishop - Guest Relations
Beverly BishopBeverly Bishop serves as guest relations for LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.   Beverly has had a wealth of experience in helping people including serving as a caretaker for Pomona City Councilman Fred Sharp, being a part-time housekeeper and seamstress, and transporting special needs children for Paul’s Yellow Cab and senior citizens to doctor appointments for the Fontana Community Center.

Beverly became a church secretary and pastor’s wife when she married Odell Bishop.  This enabled her to have many opportunities to serve the Lord in a multitude of ways:  type and send out letters; make fliers and posters for upcoming meetings; keep records of all types; make newsletters, produce a daily fifteen minute radio program on KPRO in Riverside and sing the theme song as well as other musical numbers on the program.

Beverly has had a diverse musical career, singing Country Gospel Music on the streets of the Movieland Frontier Town, Colton and also working with several local groups sometimes opening for them at a church concert or auditorium throughout the Inland Empire.  She also sang on Comcast cable television on the Kayzee’s Friends Show in Long Beach and hosted the show for a short while. Most recently she was part of the cast of “It’s A Wonderful Life” at Life at LifeHouse Theater.
Diana Powell - Guest Relations
Diana PowellDiana Powell serves as guest relations for LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.   Diana enjoys her work in the front office with public relations, publicity and reservations.  She is also one of the in-house script typists.

Diana began as a LifeHouse volunteer in 1994, as usher for the Arrowhead Bowl production of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.”   She continued as volunteer in the lighting & sound department for several years and was delighted to join the office staff in 2000. 

Diana majored in music at Crafton Hills College.  Though preferring not to get involved in the performance aspect of theater, Diana has been featured in a couple Inland Empire productions, including “The Sound of Music” at the Redlands Bowl and “Fable,” another local production.  She has also served as Music Director in various Inland Empire churches.  Diana is married to her husband of 22 years,  Ken, and has two adult daughters.  
Leah Simpson - Guest Relations

Leah SimpsonLeah Simpson serves as guest relations and costuming assistant for LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.   She started creatively serving at LifeHouse about 2 years ago as an actress. LifeHouse holds a very special place in Leah’s heart as it is where she met her husband, Tim, the director of her very first show!

Since then, Leah has enjoyed acting in 8 shows, including the roles of The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come in “Scrooge” and Mary Todd Lincoln in “Abraham Lincoln.” She has also contributed lyrics to the LifeHouse production of “Anne of Green Gables” and has served as costumer for a growing number of productions.

 

Charity Beck - Guest Relations
Charity Charity Beck serves as Guest relations for LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, Ca. Her family’s first involvement with LifeHouse Theater dates back to the Bethlehem Market Place in 1991. Currently, she is a member of our writers group, a resident artist in promotional design, and often appears as an actress on our stage.

As a member of our staff, she has many hopes for the future, but her greatest one is to honor the legacy of a friend; a friend that encouraged her to write, inspired her to act, and dared her to dream. That friend is former staff member Andrew Strachen.
Daniel Milligan – Master Electrician / Sound Engineer
Daniel MilliganDaniel Milligan serves as the lead Light & Sound Coordinator for LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA. Daniel has been involved with the LifeHouse tech crew since 2003.  He recently co-designed and built the "Pilgrim's Progress" set and lighting with Kyle Montgomery. 

Daniel is constantly working on ways to improve the sound quality at LifeHouse Theater. He is currently pursuing a degree in electronics at Valley College in San Bernardino.
Kyle Montgomery – Lighting Designer
Kyle MontgomeryKyle Montgomery serves as a Light & Sound Coordinator for LifeHouse Theater of Redlands, CA.   Kyle has been involved with LifeHouse for two years.  He is homeschooled by his mother and a senior in high school.  After graduation Kyle plans on attending The Master’s College and majoring in communications. 

He enjoys the creativity of lighting and set design.  His highlights at LifeHouse have been co-designing with Daniel Milligan the lighting for Snow White, Treasure Island, and most recently the set for Pilgrim’s Progress.  He loves being able to use his abilities to glorify Jesus Christ
Eric Bishop - Special Projects / LifeHouse Theater Outreach
Eric BishopEric Bishop has been serving LifeHouse Theater in special projects, focusing on the maintenance and improvement of the LifeHouse Theater.  Eric came to LifeHouse during the auditions for “The Wizard of Oz” in 2007 where he played the role of Uncle Henry. He has continued to perform, playing such roles as Captain Smollett in “Treasure Island,” Bert the Cop in “It’s A Wonderful Life” and multiple roles in “Pilgrim’s Progress.”  Eric’s wife, Kelly, and children, Dylan and Jasmine, have also joined Eric on stage.

Eric began helping with maintenance and renovation, helping to improve many areas of the LifeHouse Theater. Eric is truly a jack of all trades. He enjoys being involved at LifeHouse and looks forward to the many years to come.
Jason Stephenson - Audio Engineer/Orchestrations

Jason Stephenson is the Audio Engineer for LifeHouse Theater On-The-Air audio dramas. He also serves as the resident Orchestrator and has contributed many Orchestrations to LifeHouse over the years including “Ruth,” “Noah,” “Zorro,” and “Robin Hood.” Although Jason officially joined our staff in November 2009 he has been actively involved in LifeHouse since 1995 when he played the role of Young George Bailey in Wayne Scott’s “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Jason is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University and holds a Music Degree with an emphasis in Audio Engineering and Music Business. His professional credits include Songwriting, Producing, and Engineering on a variety of projects. He has also been serving in churches both technically and musically for over 15 years and is currently also the Technical Operations Manager at La Cañada Presbyterian Church. Jason is excited to bring his musical, technical, and creative talents to the LifeHouse team.

Aaron Milligan - Special Projects
Aaron MilliganAaron Milligan has been serving LifeHouse Theater in special projects, focusing on the groundskeeping needs of the LifeHouse Theater. 

Aaron has been performing since he was ten years old.  Favorite roles include Linus in "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," Willie Olsen in "Little House on the Praire," and Hypocrisy in "Pilgrim's Progress." 

He is also known for his amazing tap dancing and assists his brother Michael in teaching and choreography.  Aaron has often used his talents at LifeHouse as a choreographer and dance captain.
Peter Milligan - Special Projects
Peter MilliganPeter Milligan has been serving LifeHouse Theater in special projects, focusing on the custodial needs of the LifeHouse Theater. 

Peter has been involved with LifeHouse Theater for about five years.  He has performed in more than ten shows, including "The Hiding Place," "Tom Sawyer," and "Pilgrim's Progress."  He can often be found around the theater dusting, vacuuming, and otherwise keeping everything spotless.
